“Supporting Choices” Workshop

You are invited to attend the “Supporting Choices” Workshop scheduled Friday, July 14, 2017, in Orlando at the Hilton Garden Inn, near UCF. The purpose of this workshop and other “Supporting Choices” downloadable resources at www.supportingchoices.org is to assist transition educators in their classroom as well as offer additional resources to their students and caregivers/families to promote self-determination and independence for students with disabilities.
This free workshop includes breakfast, lunch, and one-night’s lodging all made possible by grant funding from the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council (FDDC). Because this is a grant-funded program, attendance is limited to the first 40 registrants.

Workshop Details: Ever wondered what to tell parents interested in remaining involved in their child’s education when the student turns 18? Is guardianship their only option? Do you want more information on how to prepare students for the responsibilities that come with becoming an adult? This workshop addresses these questions and features:
- Creative suggestions for teaching legal rights to students with a disability;
- Strategies and best practices to use in the classroom;
- Demonstration of a new, free online educator curriculum; and,
- Supporting Choices downloadable resource materials to share with students and parents in the IEP process. .
